Support Golf in Puerto Rico

GOLF PR member fees go to support the game of golf in Puerto Rico. GOLF PR's full-time staff manages the handicap system, conducts tournaments and championships, measures and rates course, and more.

Through the GOLF PR Golf Para Todos out-reach program, our mission is to expand the game of golf to everyone in P.R. The program largely focuses on Puerto Rico’s youth from underserved communities and financial disadvantage. 

GOLF PR Tournaments and Championships

GOLF PR members are eligible to compete in year-long competitions provided by the GOLF PR tournament department including national championships, local, state and international qualifiers and USGA qualifiers.  The tournament department also assists clubs with course marking and rules interpretations.

Junior Golf

GOLF PR conducts a series of Junior Championships, including an inter-club event, qualifiers for national team participation and international championships. 

International Tournaments
GOLF PR offers Juniors and Amateurs the opportunity to represent Puerto Rico in high-caliber international competitions. 

GOLF PR National Team Coaches

GOLF PR counts with two coaches whom in tandem collaborate with the junior and amateur team selection, training and mentorship. They also travel with the teams and participate in all other aspects required by the tournament. 

Publications and Information

Via the GOLF PR’s digital platforms (Newsletter, GHIN newsletter, golfpr.org, Facebook, Instagram and live social media transmissions), GOLF PR delivers up-to-date relevant important local and international golf industry information. 

Rules of Golf Service

GOLF PR conducts Rules of Golf seminars throughout the year for member clubs and individual groups. GOLF PR is also available to answer any rules disputes and/or questions.

Handicap Service

GOLF PR’s GHIN handicap system is promoted and supported by the GOLF PR handicap and member services departments.  

Handicap Seminars

GOLF PR offers handicap seminars to all member clubs/individuals and is available to answer any and all questions which may arise.

Course Rating & Measuring

With the assistance of the USGA, GOLF PR course raters will be measuring and rating all of Puerto Rico’s courses following the strict guidelines set forth by the World Handicap System (WHS).  GOLF PR course raters attend yearly USGA calibration seminars to keep up-to-date with new procedures.

Official USGA Handicap Index

GOLF PR is the only authorized golf association in Puerto Rico licensed by the USGA to utilize the USGA’s Handicapping System.

GOLF PR handicap allows members to compete in more than all annual local, state and international competitions. Additionally, it is the most widely used & accepted system in Puerto Rico by golf clubs for all competitive and recreational events.

GOLF PR Mobile App

GOLF PR free mobile app, available for Apple and Android devices, includes mobile score posting and handicap lookup, tournament information and results, a national course directory, and GOLF PR news.

USGA P.J. Boatwright Internship

GOLF PR offers a 3 or 6-month internship in cooperation with the USGA, which is designed as a comprehensive and extensive training experience to a qualified person in preparation for a career in golf administration.

USGA/AGA Liaison

GOLF PR monitors national issues, processes reinstatements to amateur status, attends USGA/PGA Rules Workshops to provide as much knowledge and information to our member clubs and associate members as possible.

There are two different types of club memberships, one for clubs that have a golf course affiliation and another for clubs without real estate.

Hole-by-hole posting and stat tracking

Handicap scores can be posted as gross scores or hole-by-hole scores.

Stat tracking is available for hole-by-hole scores and includes stats such as putts, penalty strokes, greens in regulation, and sand saves.

GOLF PR members making a hole-in-one receive a certificate of recognition.

USGA Tournament Management System, Powered by Golf Genius

Cloud-based tournament management system available to GOLF PR member clubs features direct link with GOLF PR handicap system for tournament setup.

Tournament formats include stroke play, match play, better ball, stableford, and more. Run events from multiple tees.
